Thug life
A lot has happened these past few months. Moved to a new city, new job, new place etc etc. Now I feel (relatively) settled I can get back to the art ting. Got a couple of books in the pipeline, one related to the image in my last post and the second related to the image below. Look out for it peeps!!!

Inspiration station
One way or another, I WILL produce new work/ put on a show over the next few months. I have too many ideas not to! I've been (subconsciously) picking out elements of work produced over the last couple of years. I want to fuse the shiny/ camp/ glitzy aesthetic with the tribal/ ethnic stuff I had going on. I'm visualising garment-esque sculptural forms. Not necessarily wearable but evocative of clothing.

!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!
Sorry blog, you have been very neglected of late, I've been busy trying to organise my life post university. Not that I'm having much luck! But anyway, I've been going back to the trusty cross stitch of late, I might rename it xxxstich. Below is an image of some work in progress that form part of a larger series. Notice the two tone effect I have going on? I ran out of the first colour, ha!. Not quite sure how they will end up yet, but thats all part of the fun.

Website update!!
This is a long overdue update featuring work from my degree show and the Tool bank open show Westside glory.
I plan to do a bit of an overhaul on my site over the next month or so. Now is the time to learn a bit more about website building so why not spruce up the site a little bit?

A vague and non accusatory account on the spirit of community
I started to write some notes a while back, on the back of an envelope in typical Suzie fashion. Spare time on my hands has led me to believe I should begin to tie up these loose threads of interest that I have flirted with but never followed through.
I am at a point right now where I have to follow a path, a route, a journey. As if life is even as simple as that! I've finished my degree (fine art no less) and have the world at my feet, but no resources (ie. money!)
I appear to have veered quite off topic. This was supposed to be about the spirit of community.
So, an event I attended a while back now led me to re evaluate my feelings on particular 'communities.' This is of course, a sweeping generalisation and I of all people should know better. But let me take a moment to express myself. It was at this point that I began to question what community meant to some people, and in turn, myself. Why does an affiliation with a particular group allow one the right to question a persons status within that group? Is there some community rule book I forget to pick up from Waterstone's? Surely community is about inclusivity? After this event I began to think it was more a case that if you wore and said the right thing you were in, if not you were definitely out.
No one should have to adhere to someone else's rules, morals or obligations in regard to how to live their life. Assuming they aren't hurting anyone in process! Integrity is something to be admired, not feared. We don't have to agree on everything to be a community but the least we can do is respect each others differences.

3D letters
Wise words
"I like making images that from a distance seem kind of seductive, colorful, luscious and engaging, and then you realize what you’re looking at is something totally opposite. It seems boring to me to pursue the typical idea of beauty, because that is the easiest and the most obvious way to see the world. It’s more challenging to look at the other side."
